4 {four} months old...

Today was Emma's 4 month check up! Man, time flies! She did so great! Even with the shots!! She cried for about one minute..possibly less..until she saw her "crinkle book". It was all smiles after that!

Dr. Isaccson is so great. He let me look through the little eye thing (my medical terminology is awesome) & showed me what they look for. Pretty cool & kinda creepy. LoL.

As he was doing his check up, she kept grabbing his stethescope & pulling it towards her mouth. He seemed fairly surprised. He said that just watching her he could see advanced development..usually you don't see a lot of what she was doing until about 6 months old in most babies (grabbing his stethescope, trying to eat it. Taking her binki out and putting it back in herself, etc)! So, he said he would call her right on track, & not hesitate to call her advanced for her age. Go Emma!

She weighed in at 12 lbs 6 oz..which is the 25th percentile.

She measured at 25" long...which is in the 75th percentile.

I always get nervous about side effects of the shots..& everything else in the world. LoL. I may be slightly paranoid. She slept a lot of the day, which is a normal side effect that about 70% of babies get with one or more of their shots. Anyways, I had just finished feeding her, and was changing her diaper and putting her PJ's on. She got super super stiff, and started to shake like she had fatigue, or was cold? Odd? Yes. Normal, just wait. I thought it was a little not...normal.. and so I tried to get her attention. Her eyes, then, started rolling in the back of her head! She did this while stiff and shaking for about 10 or 15 seconds. I freaked and called Adam in. She stopped shaking, but couldn't focus her eyes on anything..they were mostly still rolled back. I pick her up, and she got a little fussy, so I found a binki, she took it and crashed into a deep sleep..uhhh what the crap?! So I get my little Baby Bible (What to Expect the first year) and read what I could on side effects of the 4 month vaccines. Not comforting. I called Dr. Issaccson's on call doctor (who I almost think was him...sounded just like him, spoke just like him..lol). After a long questioning, he said it sounded like she may have had a tiny episode...but possibly nothing as well...especially because it happened only once, and for a short period of time. Also, because nothing happend at 2 months, and she was fine all day until just then, he thought she sounded just fine. He told me to lay her down on her own..not holding her to see how she would react and call him back if she did anything out of the ordinary. She woke up...was fussy for about 5 seconds...started to smile and play with some toys. LoL. Ugh the worries of being a mother! I am sleeping with her in the living room tonight..just like when she was a newborn. We're pretty sure all is well, but I never can be too cautious! ;)

Happy 4 months Emma Rae..We Love you!
