Heartless.

For those of you who know me & how much I love animals. You will understand how hard this post is for me. If you saw me, you'd probably think I was a bigger baby than Emma..True, I won't argue that right now!

I left work today to come watch Emma while Adam went flying. I couldn't believe what happened. On my way home, about 3rd north & main st (highway) (I live on 4th north off of main, so I was almost home)..two cars infront of me hit a beautiful, helpless boxer dog. He was thrown at least 50 feet between the two cars. Fur and blood all over the road. I freaked. I figured he was dead, I hoped for his sake he was. He wasn't. I saw him lift his head as my car passed which was the worst part for me. My heart sank. I just thought "oh my gosh, he's still alive"...The two cars that hit him didn't stop or even hit their breaks. Ass Holes. F***ing Ass Holes. Sorry, that pisses me off. So I illegally, turned around & I pulled my car horizontally across the vertical lanes. Illegal too? Yes. Did I care? No. I just couldn't stand someone not seeing him & hitting him right infront of me again.

I get out and he is scared. Bleeding badly and shaking uncontrolably. A nice man and his wife and 2 young girls stopped as well. One other older woman named Camille did too. He helped lift the dog into the back of my car, since I was the only one parked in the middle of the highway..haha..dumb on my end kinda, I get it. I had spare towels in my trunk too, thank goodness. The man wrapped him up and tried to stop some of the bleeding. Put pressue on his eye/side of his face that was bleeding. The worst thing to me, was his eyes bleeding and his one side of his face from road rash when he was drug/thrown. He looked so sad. and understandably, in so much pain. This man, sat in my trunk with him, while I pulled out of the highway. We called the police, and luckily got a super nice cop who had dogs at home and was a dog lover himself. He escorted us to the closest vet in north logan. He let him sit in the trunk with the dog, since he was shaking and scared, trying to get up..which would only hurt himself more.

My gosh, this vet and all it's workers are going to hell. I have this helpless, in pain dog dying in the back of my car and they wouldn't even look at him or look up his dog tags. Nothing. The tags had no phone number, only vet rabies shot info. Not only were they unwilling, but talk about bitchy. My hell. They acted like the cop and I were pests for coming there! So while nice lady Camille (who also pulled over when she saw me with the dog in the highway) went to the grocery store to get him water (no, the vet wouldn't even give us a paper damn bowl to put water in for him to drink or at least try), the police officer called Animal Control. Another un helpful S.O.B.

Adam is late for his flight, and so he drops Emma off at this vet I was at on his way. I didn't put her in the back seat because of the dog, and the trunk open..It ws pretty chilly out. So I put her in the drivers seat to try and keep her as warm as I could until I was ready to drive and go somewhere...The Animal Control freak, decides it's more important to lecture me on how it's not safe for my baby to be in the front seat of my not running, parked car. Luckily, or so I thought, Adam called me right then..."Guess what? I just got pulled over"!

SERIOUSLY?

Yeah. This cop pulled him over because the windows in his truck are too tinted...and just our luck, the tags expired by one day. Go. freakin'. figure.

While Mr. S.O.B. animal control guy was calling who knows who...the cop, camille, and the other guy decided to get this dog into Camille's car, and she would take him to a vet in Richmond, about 15 minutes north of where we were. She pulls up in this super nice Escalade. LoL. This dog was BLOODY. So, I am a few towels shorter, but that's okay..they were my mom's..lol. But, I would have gladly given my towels to help him too!

Camille takes him to her vet in Richmond, her were more than willing to help, even with no owner to sign payment papers..THAT'S A GOOD DAMN VET! Camille said she wanted to adpot him if we couldn't find the owners, and she would make payments to pay this vet back, even though they didn't even require that!

Camille called me and let me know how he was doing. Not great. Amazingly enough, no broken bones...which we thought both of this hind legs were broken. He could only lift them from his hip and they were the most torn up. When I first pulled next to him he tried to stand up, since he was scared, probably trying to get away from my car..but he couldn't pulls his bottom half up, only his front legs, which were shaky and not able to hold his poor body up. He has internal bleeding though. If we would have been able to get him treatment sooner, he would have a higher chance of survival. He was also in shock (who wouldn't be in that condition?!)..They had to perform emergancy surgery, and hook him on the oxygen and all sorts of fun things. They said to check back later this afternoon. :(

Poor baby. I hope he lives. & I hope Camille is able to take him to her good animal loving home. Breaks my heart. I've seen animals that have been hit, but not right in front of me, & live..and just be in pain..OMG. I can't stop thinking about his sad eyes and how hurt he was. Animals hold a special place in my heart, and it's just not fair.

I called my relief society president to ask her if she knew of anyone in the ward with boxers. She couldn't think of anyone off the top of her head, but she made a few calls and found a lady in our ward, whose neighbors do. She got me the address, and I called and gave it to the cop who helped out..he is going to their house, to get things figured out..Apparently, if these are the owners, they don't take great care of their animals (you know, like letting them run around the highway?)..I hope it's the wrong owners, or if it is, they will let Camille adopt him if he makes it. So sweet. He deserves a good home.

UPDATE:: I got a call on Tuesday after the accident from Camille. She told me he is doing well and she was taking him home! The owners apperently didn't care much about the dog, and signed him over to her for adoption! So yay! Healthy dog & a good home. Happy Ending for sure!

  1. Aw he's beautiful. And hopefully he ends up in a loving home! You are so great for stopping to help him. I would have done the same thing.. stop in the middle of the highway!! lol

Everyone will get what they deserve. Animals are God's creations and He loves them all the same. Those people are stupid, and hopefully bad things happen to them! As for you, only gooood things :) Love you!
