Last Saturday we were able to bless our baby girl. What a cool experience for me. It was Adam's first time giving a blessing of any kind, so I am sure it was equally, if not more of a cool experience for him!
Family came up! YAY! I love when they do. Although, I hate that the only timewe seem to see each other is when something is going on...so there is just no down time to hang out! Maybe that's why I enjoyed our last trip to Cedar..it was a trip for no reason at all!
Anywho. Emma is a happy baby. Period. She is so good & never cries (anymore LoL) unless it's cryin' for some yummy food. She loves beingon the floor, bed or couch, where she can stretch and kick her legs andjust "play". Carseat= happiness destruction.
I made the mistake of waiting until last minute to change her into her blessing dress on Saturday. She hates being changed, and usually needs a few minutes to calm down after. LoL. She is so stiff, she hates having her arms moved into holes and stuff.. HATES it! She loves being naked and probably wishes she could be all the time. I wanted to wait, JUST IN CASE, she had a shrek moment and ruined her dress before we even got to the church. So it wasn't my procrastination, rather I was trying to be smart. I put a little white onesie under her dress initally, and go figure, it showed above the dress neckline, looking ridiculous...so I got to undress and redress her...OH MAN! She went balistic! Then, the ultimate happiness destroyer for this child was up to bat. DUN DUN DUN! Our church is literally 4 houses down the street. Not far. You would think she was starving or something!
I was getting a little frustrated. "Oh great, she is going to freak the whole blessing because of change #1, #2, and then the hell seat". Adam was so good with her! He just held her and bounced her for a minute and usually she hates being held for too long, especially when she is fussy. She fell ASLEEP! YAY! & she slept 'like a baby' through the whole blessing and even most of the dinner afterwards! Towards the end, she did wake up, giving everyone a glimpse into her pretty blue eyes and her happy smiles!
Adam did so well with the blessing. His voice was a little shaky from nerves. So cute! He is such a great dad. Blessed her with health,& happiness. That she would find a worthy young man to take her through the temple. Blessed her to know how much her family loves her. Blessed her to know how much Heavenly Father loves her and how he is there to help her through life's trials.
I, of course, cried. So did Mom. Whitney....oh, Whitney...Smart Butt that she is, leaned overafter the blessing and says "What? Did you start crying when he said Our Heavenly Father at the beginning"? Uhhh...that question deserves a big fat "yes" stamp of approval. LoL!
It was so great to have our families all together. The Swapp side & most of Adam's whole family was able to come. We missed seeing the smiling face of the Staples families'! Thanks to everyone who came & helped out! It was a great day, & it gets a fancy page with a special tab in my memory book!
I love, love, love her dress! Ha, Whitney shouldn't tease you about crying. She still has yet to get married and have her kids and you know what they say about paybacks!
ReplyDeleteEmma is so lucky! Her blessing looked wonderful and so many people came! That's awesome. And she looked absolutely darling in her dress and her bracelet!
ReplyDeleteAnd I know I will cry my eyes out when Gerrit blesses Tristan. I will be a leaking faucet all day no doubt!
